An updated take on a Classic
Overview
The 462 10-Band Graphic Equalizer is a modern take on a classic 70's design. It features 10 fixed, proportional Q bands with 12dB of cut or boost.
10 Bands of Cut or Boost
The 462 offers the classic doubling EQ points of 31.5/63/125/250/500/1K/2K/4K/8K/16K as found on the design that inspired its creation. The bands all have a fixed frequency point, and a proportional Q, meaning that as a boost or cut is increased, the Q (or width) of the action is narrowed. For example a small boost will result in a lower Q, meaning more frequencies on both sides of the centre point are effected. As the boost approaches 12dB fewer frequencies on both sides of the centre point making the boost/cut more surgical.
Custom Slide Potentiometers
The slide potentiometers have a custom taper that allows a linear application of boost and cut as they are moved. The centre LED also acts as an 'Active' indicator and illuminates when the EQ is in circuit. Both adding a nice esthetic and a quick reference for the middle band of the device.
